911 Address

Vonage 911 service is similar to traditional 911 service in that it offers a safe and reliable means of emergency dialing. Activating and maintaining your 911 address is important for ensuring the availability of emergency services at the location of your Vonage phone service.

Outside the U.S.

To use your Vonage adapter outside of the U.S., set your 911 address to Outside the U.S.. This setting routes 911 calls to the Vonage National Emergency Call Center, not your local emergency services. It is recommended that you use a phone other than your Vonage phone if you need to call 911 when your 911 address is set to Outside the U.S.. Also note that the timestamp for your call activity and Voicemail messages default to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).

911 Address Activation Status

Activating your 911 address is important for ensuring the availability of emergencies services at the location of your Vonage phone service. You can check the activation status of your 911 address in your Online Account. You can also dial 933 from your Vonage phone to check the activation status.

Set Up or Change Your 911 Address

You can set up or change your 911 address in your Online Account on the Adapter & 911 Settings tab in the Features & Settings section of the Summary page. If you have more than one adapter on your account, be sure to select the correct phone number under My Numbers before setting or changing your 911 address.

Your set up options are:

  • Outside the United States
  • Use Existing 911 Address
  • Enter a New 911 Address

When you set up or change your 911 Address, your information is handled as follows:

New or Changed 911 Address
(Your initial entry)

911 address is submitted to verification, which can take up to several hours. Calls to 911 from your Vonage phone are directed to our national emergency response center.

Automated Address Match

The address is currently being verified by the automated system. During this phase of the verification process, your 911 calls are routed to the national emergency response center.

Invalid Address
(Your second and final entry)

If for any reason we are unable to process your street address on the first attempt, you will receive an email asking you to sign in to your Online Account to re-enter your address for verification. Carefully review the format and remember the street number, street name, and suffix are separate fields. Calls to 911 are routed to the national emergency response center.

Activation Successful

The address has been verified and the phone number is activated for Vonage 911 services.

Activation Failed

If, after several attempts, your 911 Address is not validated, we will attempt to manually process the most recent 911 address you entered in your Online Account. You cannot make any further attempts to update the address at this time. If you attempt to update, you will see a notification that asks you to contact us to resolve this issue. This process can take several days to complete. 911 calls during this period are routed to the national emergency response center.
